Training for technical editors
Who is this training course for?
Technical editors who are already working for a company or as a freelance and wish to have a certification to prove their professional competence, students who are planning to enter the discipline, translators or other linguists who are interested to add technical editing to their skills or change their career path.

This course covers the following topics:
Exploring and understanding the role that technical editors play
Identifying the skills that technical editors are expected to possess
Appraisal and use of the most popular editing tools and software
Finding, choosing and working with standard, company and departmental style guides
Using Internet search and other resources of information
Communicating with authors and other stakeholders 
Writing queries and creating style sheets
Working with proofreader marks
Working with track changes in MS Word.
Working with PDF markup 
Working with collaborative writing environments
Examining good writing practice
How to check for problems of logic and coherence in a text
Correcting errors of tense and mistakes of grammar, spelling and punctuation


The training courses consist of web modules using video and online testing followed by a final classroom session where the participant sits a supervised multiple choice examination. Upon successful completion of the course and examination, the participant will be issued a certificate and entered into the certification database.
